UT offensive lineman earns All-America honors

DALLAS -- University of Texas senior OG/T Derrick Dockery (Garland, Texas) earned All-America honors from the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA), the organization announced Monday.
A three-year starter and member of the prestigious Playboy Preseason All-America team this past summer, Dockery has started 30 games (all 12 this season) for the Longhorns and blocked for a 1,000-yard rusher and 2,000-yard passer in each of his four seasons at UT. The 6-foot-6, 345-pounder showed his versatility this season when the Longhorns were forced to start him at both guard (six starts) and tackle (six starts) as a result of injuries on the line. He has not allowed a sack and helped UT average 33.7 points per game (15th NCAA) this year.
It marks the 19th time the Longhorns have featured an offensive lineman on the FWAA All-America squad, which selects only a first team annually. UT has had at least one offensive lineman on the FWAA All-American squad in three of the five seasons since Mack Brown took over as head coach in 1998.
