Details set for Football home games versus Texas State, UTSA

The Longhorns will open the season at home against the Bobcats at 2:30 p.m. CT on September 5 on ESPN before later hosting the Roadrunners at 7 p.m. CT on September 19 on SEC Network+.
Austin – Details for Texas Football home games versus Texas State and UTSA were among those released by the Southeastern Conference on Wednesday.
The season opener against Texas State presented by UFCU on Saturday, Sept. 5, will kick off at 2:30 p.m. on ESPN. Meanwhile, the contest versus UTSA presented by Ford on Saturday, Sept. 19, is set for 7 p.m. CT on SEC Network+ with both games taking place at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin.
The league had previously announced the home game versus Ohio State kicking off at 6:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Sept. 12, on ABC, along with Cotton Holdings Lone Star Showdown match-up at Texas A&M being set for 6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27.
Texas and Texas State have played just once before in 1930 when Texas State was named Southwest Texas State Teachers College. Texas won that game in Austin, 36-0. This will be the third meeting between the Longhorns and UTSA, all of which have been in Austin with Texas winning, 41-20, in 2022, and 56-7 in 2024.
The Longhorns are entering year six of the Steve Sarkisian era, and in the last three seasons have posted a 35-8 record with three-straight 10-win campaigns, which is the first time accomplishing that since 2007-09. In those three years, they posted a Cheez-It Citrus Bowl Championship last year, back-to-back College Football Playoffs semifinal appearances in 2023 and 2024, an SEC Championship Game appearance in 2024, and a Big 12 Championship in 2023.
