UT WR lead West to victory in Las Vegas All-American Classic

University of Texas wide receiver Sloan Thomas (Houston, Texas/Klein HS) hauled in a 45-yard touchdown catch from Oregon quarterback Jason Fife on the first drive of the game in helping the West post a 14-7 win over the East in the Las Vegas AllAmerican Classic on Saturday (Jan. 17). That was the game's longest play.

Thomas' TD catch came with 12:38 left in the first quarter and on the college senior's all-star games initial drive. He got the West off to a great start with a 34-yard kickoff return on the opening drive that gave his squad the ball at the 39-yard line. Five plays later he was in the endzone with his 45-yard grab. He returned two kickoffs for 47 yards (23.5 ypr) on the day.

Fife completed 8-of-16 passes for 83 yards and two TDs and was voted the games MVP.
