Former Longhorns to play in NFL Europe

AUSTIN, Texas -- Former Longhorns defensive back Ahmad Brooks and offensive tackle Robbie Doane will both be on NFL Europe rosters when the league's training camp opens on February 27. Brooks was signed by the New Orleans Saints on January 6 and allocated to NFL Europe where he will play with the Frankfurt Galaxy, while Doane was drafted as a free agent by the Cologne Centurions.
Brooks (Abilene, Texas) was a two-year starter at free safety for UT and played in 51 career games, including 27 starts. He finished his career with 182 tackles, four interceptions and 27 pass breakups. As a senior, Brooks was a team captain and was named honorable mention All-Big 12, while leading the Longhorns with 88 tackles. He was signed by the Buffalo Bills as a free agent following the 2002 NFL Draft and played in six games, including two starts before being released in August of 2003.
Doane (Coppell, Texas) was a two-year starter at offensive tackle for Texas and played in 51 career games, starting the final 26 of his career. He helped pave the way for four consecutive 1,000-yard rushers, including two seasons each for Hodges Mitchell and Cedric Benson. In his senior season, Doane was honorable mention All-Big 12 and UT's co-Outstanding Lineman, and was named second-team Academic All-District VI. He was signed by the Green Bay Packers then Minnesota Vikings prior to the 2003 season before being released.
