Mack Brown on Texas being ranked No. 1 in this week's BCS Rankings: It's a compliment, because it's a place we haven't been in a long time and it sets our standard even higher. We also understand that the percentage points and the rankings can change weekly. What we have to do is concentrate on winning. That's the only thing we have control over. It's only October, and what we want to do is to be one of the top two teams in December.
Notes:
- It marks the first time since the Bowl Championship Series began in 1998 that Texas has earned a No. 1 ranking at any point in the season.
- The last time the Longhorns were ranked No. 1 in either The Associated Press or Coaches Poll was Oct. 8 1984. That Week, Texas was No. 1 in both major polls.
