Career
• Aided the Longhorns in posting three straight 50-win seasons during his career as well as reach the College World Series (CWS) twice (1985 & 1987) and win three consecutive Southwest Conference championships.
• Also had a hand in the 1985 team setting school single-season club records for at bats (2,512), runs (663), hits (785), RBI (597), walks (548) and opponent strikeouts (618).
• Made seven pitching appearances, including three starts on the mound and saw action as the team's designated hitter in six contests during his freshman year of 1985 en route to helping UT register a 64-14 record and finish second at the CWS.
• Ranked third on the team in batting (.314) and second among the squad's regular pitchers with a 2.05 ERA in 1986. Also placed second on the team in hits (70), RBI (62) and home runs (10). Of note, among his 62 total RBI were 10 game-winners.
• Recorded the 16th no-hitter in school history on Feb. 16, 1986, by walking five and striking out seven UT-Arlington batters in a 13-0 UT victory in seven innings over the Mavericks at Disch-Falk Field.
• Had one of his best years on the Forty Acres as a junior when he ranked second on the team with 14 home runs, third with 62 RBI and went 10-3 on the mound with the third-most strikeouts (84) on the staff to lead UT to a third-place finish at the 1987 CWS with a 61-11 record.
• First-round draft pick (10th overall) of the Kansas City Royals in 1987. Notably, he was also drafted out of high school in the second round by the Montreal Expos, but opted to attend UT.
