AUSTIN, Texas -- University of Texas freshman QB Colt McCoy sustained a severe pinched nerve in his neck on the final drive of Texas' 12-7 loss against Texas A&M on Saturday. He sustained the injury when he was hit after an incomplete pass. McCoy had feeling in all of his extremities but was carted off the field for precautionary reasons and further observations, UT's Athletic Trainer Kenny Boyd said. He was taken to a local hospital for tests and released.
"We did an X-ray, MRI, and CT scan and none of the tests showed any structural damage to his neck or shoulder," said Longhorns Team Orthopedic Surgeon Carey Windler.
"No timetable has been set for his return, but we expect him to a have full recovery," Boyd added.
