FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- University of Texas senior Trey Hardee (Birmingham, Ala.) won the first two events to seize the early lead in the heptathlon after day one of the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. Texas currently sits in 14th place with points after getting points from seniors Brian Robison (Splendora, Texas), Ronald Hill (Walnut, Calif.) and the distance-medley relay squad.
Hardee leads the heptathlon after beginning day one by capturing the 60 meters in a personal-best time of 6.71, good for 988 points to seize the early lead. Hardee took the next event, the long jump, with a distance of 25-0.75 for 970 points.
