PHILADELPHIA -- No. 4 Texas added two more victories to its credit Saturday to wrap up an outstanding two days for the Longhorns at the 112th Penn Relays Carnival at the University of Pennsylvania's Franklin Field. Texas captured the 4x100-meter relay in the college division, and junior Andra Manson (Brenham, Texas) added his second career Penn Relays victory in the high jump, giving the Longhorns an impressive two-day total of four victories in Philadelphia. By comparison, Texas registered a total of three victories in its Penn Relays appearances from 2001-2005
The 4x100-meter relay quartet of seniors Quincy Boles (Harker Heights, Texas) and Ronald Hill (Walnut, Calif.), freshman Jamaal Charles (Port Arthur, Texas) and senior Trey Griffin (Lockhart, Texas) clocked 39.66 to take top honors in the college division, as well as a NCAA regional mark.
Manson collected his second Penn Relays high jump victory in three season, claiming the event's championship division with a top clearance of 7 feet, 4 _ inches (2.25m) for a NCAA regional mark. As a freshman in 2004, Manson captured the event with a clearance of 7-5. The win is Texas' fifth high jump victory in its last nine appearances at the Penn Relays. Former Longhorn Mark Boswell captured the event at the Penn Relays from 1998-2000.
Senior Trey Hardee (Birmingham, Ala.) joined Boles, Charles and Griffin to clock a seventh-place time of 1:26.48 in the 4x200-Meter Relay Championship of America. Freshman Elliot O'Hare (Austin, Texas) and sophomore Joseph Davis (San Antonio, Texas) made appearances in the triple jump, placing fifth and seventh, respectively.
At the RunSport Rice Twilight meet in Houston, sophomore Raymond Harris (Nacogdoches, Texas) led the Longhorns with a second-place finish of 6-10.75 (2.10m) and a NCAA regional mark in the high jump. Sophomore Joel Hargett (Conroe, Texas) took third with a clearance of 6-8.75 (2.05m). Sophomore John Rouse (Kaufman, Texas) placed third in the hammer throw with a toss of 180-9 (55.10m).
Redshirt freshman Dustin Bynum (Corpus Christi, Texas) placed seventh in the 400 meters in 53.18 and eighth in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.62.
Several Texas distance runners are slated to participate in the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational on Sunday at Stanford University. The meet kicks off at 4 p.m. CDT in Palo Alto, Calif.
