Track & Field delivers top performances on Day Two of Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays presented by Truist

Hammer record, heptathlon podium and 5,000-meter title lead Longhorns.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Track & Field delivered record-breaking and championship-filled performances Friday on the second day of the 98th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays presented by Truist at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
In her outdoor debut for the Longhorns, Giavonna Meeks rewrote the program record book in the hammer throw. Meeks finished fourth overall and second among collegiate competitors with a Texas record mark of 67.42m (221-2). She broke the previous school record on her opening throw and surpassed it three more times, with all six of her attempts now standing as the top-six marks in program history. Her mark ranks third in the nation this season.
In the heptathlon, Tabea Eitel capped a standout performance with a runner-up finish, totaling a personal-best 5,648 points to move to No. 3 on the Texas all-time performers list. Eitel opened the day with the top long jump mark at 5.86 meters (19-2.75) and added a strong javelin throw of 38.46 meters (126-2) before closing with a 2:22.58 effort in the 800 meters. Her performance ranks second nationally this season.
Iana Ahetz-Etcheber placed ninth overall with 5,348 points, highlighted by a meet-best 2:15.48 in the 800 meters to close competition.
On the track, Sophie Atkinson closed out the day for the women with a championship run in the 5,000 meters, winning in 16:14.96, while Elizabeth Pickett finished seventh with a time of 17:01.05.
Texas advanced multiple athletes to Saturday finals in the 400-meter hurdles. Amelliah Birdow led the women's field with the top qualifying time of 56.38, while Anouk Krause-Jentsch (57.29) and Mackenzie Collins (57.50) also advanced. On the men's side, Kody Blackwood and Chris Brinkley Jr. posted the two fastest preliminary times at 50.35 and 50.78, respectively.
Emma Wade secured a victory in the women's 1500 meters, clocking a personal-best 4:34.98.
In distance events, Hudson Bennett claimed a runner-up finish in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:06.24. Aishling Callanan (10:55.51) and Natasja Beijen (10:59.30) placed fifth and seventh, respectively, in the women's steeplechase.
Additional performances included Sophia Kowalski clearing 4.00 meters (13-1.5) in the pole vault for sixth place, and Grace Kowalski leading a group of four Longhorns in the women's 800-meter invitational with a fifth-place finish in 2:09.07.
In the men's 5,000 meters, Nathanael Berhane placed fourth in 14:18.07, while Aidan Torres finished seventh with a personal-best 14:30.49.
Competition resumes Saturday at 9 a.m. with the men's discus. Running events begin at 9:35 a.m. with the Carlette Guidry 4x100-meter Relay prelims.
