LUBBOCK, Texas -- Former Longhorns Cliff Gustafson and Brooks Kieschnick were among the inaugural class of 10 inductees into the new College Baseball Hall of Fame on Tuesday, July 4.
Eight former players and coaches joined Gustafson and Kieschnick to form the Class of 2006. This legendary group included coaches Bobby Winkles, Skip Bertman, Ron Fraser and Rod Dedeaux and standout players Bob Horner, Robin Ventura, Dave Winfield and Will Clark.
As Texas' head coach from 1968-96, Gustafson guided UT to 22 Southwest Conference (SWC) titles, an NCAA-record 17 College World Series (CWS) appearances and two national titles. Kieschnick, meanwhile, helped lead the Longhorns to two SWC crowns and a pair of CWS appearances in his three seasons on the Forty Acres (1991-93) and was a two-time National Player of the Year (1992-93).
