Anderson, U.S. 400m relay bring home gold at World Junior Championship

BEIJING -- University of Texas sophomore Alex Anderson (Chicago, Ill.) brought home a gold medal for the U.S. Junior team as the second leg for the winning American 4x100-meter relay at the 2006 IAAF World Track and Field Junior Championships in Beijing, China on Sunday. The quartet rounded the track in 43.49 seconds to help the U.S. delegation take third in the medal standings.
Anderson, who took the baton from leadoff leg Jeneba Tarmoh, handed off to Elizabeth Olearwho exchanged with anchor Gabby Mayo.
The U.S. team accumulated eleven medals through six days of competition, including four gold medal, five silver awards and two bronze performances. The People's Republic of China finished in first place with 17 medals while Kenya was second with 15.
