The Longhorns (16-4-5) ended the season with the second highest win total in program history. UT won its second consecutive Big 12 Tournament Championship, and advanced to the third round for the second consecutive season and for the third time in program history.
No. 14 Florida State (16-5-3) moves on to the NCAA quarterfinals to play the winner of Friday's third round match between Stanford and Connecticut.

POSTGAME QUOTES
HEAD COACH Chris Petrucelli
Opening statement: We got outplayed by a very good team tonight and I don't know if we were ever really in the game. They did a tremendous job of keeping the ball. We chased them. They created chances and being down one-nil at halftime seemed like it was four or five. Certainly the early goal in the second half really sort of ended the game. Congratulations to Florida State, they were great.
On being satisfied with advancing to the third round: Well I don't think we are satisfied with getting to this level. The goal of our program is to win the whole thing, it's what you do at Texas -- you win. We're disappointed that we're not going on, but I talked to them afterwards and told them, `they (Florida State) were good.' There's not much we can do about that. We can control how we played. While maybe we didn't play our best I think it was a lot more about how they (Florida State) played.
On the game strategy coming into the match: I expected that they would be able to keep that ball, and they were. I thought we could get a little more going forward is what I thought would happen. There were a few times in the first half where we got something going on counters, and I thought that's what was going to be it. I was hoping we would get more of those opportunities but we certainly didn't. So the kind of game we were looking for was a game when they had the ball a lot and we would be kicking the ball off and countering it. The first half was a little like that, but certainly not the second half.
JUNIOR DEFENDER Kasey Moore
On the change in dynamic after the second goal of the match: That second goal I think just killed the mood of the team. We came out ready to be fired up and ready to go at them, and a minute and half in, they score a goal. I have to give them all the credit in the world, I think that's the most dynamic front line we've played against all season long. I could see them going on and winning a national championship; they were amazing.
