Running back Jamaal Charles rushed for 92 yards and a TD on 17 carries, while QB Colt McCoy finished 17-of-32 for 229 yards and a TD as the Longhorns came up just short in their final regular season game against Texas A&M, 38-30.
Charles was also on the receiving end of four of McCoy's completions for 81 yards.
Texas A&M QB Stephen McGee threw for a career-high 362 yards with three touchdowns and scored on a run. Kick-holder T.J. Sanders got his only career TD when he capped A&M's 95-yard drive with a 5-yard TD run on a fake field goal and the defense forced three turnovers (two fumbles, interception).
Texas (9-3, 5-3), which had won five straight games, still has an outside shot of making it to the Big 12 championship game if 10th-ranked Oklahoma loses to Oklahoma State on Saturday.
With Texas trailing 24-10 in the third quarter following a Texas A&M touchdown, WR Quan Cosby returned the ensuing kickoff 91 yards for a TD to cut the deficit back to seven. The Aggies expanded their lead to 38-17 before the Longhorns closed the game with a 13-0 run, including a 28-yard TD pass from McCoy to WR Jordan Shipley and a 4-yard TD run by RB Chris Ogbonnaya with 2:45 left.
Following a sky kick which Texas A&M recovered, Texas had one final chance to regain possession, but the Aggies converted a 3rd-and-6 into a first down and were able to run out the clock.
