AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas Longhorns' sophomore Austin Wood was tabbed the Big 12 Baseball Pitcher of the Week the league announced on Monday.
Wood was 2-0 on the week with a 0.75 ERA in two starts.
The southpaw held No. 12 Oklahoma State's high-octane offense scoreless for six innings, scattering three hits and two walks, while striking out three. The performance propelled Texas to the first-ever three-game sweep of OSU by any team at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium since the venue opened in 1981. The Cowboys came into the series with the conference's highest batting average and highest run total. Wood's pitching contributed in the first shutout of Oklahoma State at Reynolds Stadium in nine years.
In Texas' game last Tuesday, Wood held UT Pan American to one run on four hits while striking out five over six innings.
It marks the first career Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honor for Wood. Teammate Adrian Alaniz has been tabbed the league's pitcher of the week on two occasions this season.
Texas returns to action on Friday with the Longhorns hosting Missouri in a 6:05 p.m. contest at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
