Escobar takes seventh at Pan American Games

RIO de JANEIRO -- University of Texas rising sophomore Susana Escobar took seventh place in the 400-meter individual medley Tuesday in the 2007 Pan American Games at Parque Aquatico.
Escobar (Queretaro, Mexico), representing her native Mexico, took seventh place in 4 minutes, 52.30 seconds. Escobar had advanced to Tuesday's finals by placing seventh in Monday's semifinal round in 4:52.87.
Escobar earned honorable mention All-America honors as a member of UT's 800-yard freestyle relay team at the 2007 NCAA Championships.
Former Longhorns Elizabeth Wycliffe (Canada) and Elizabeth Tinnon (USA) will compete Tuesday evening in the preliminary rounds of the 100-meter backstroke and 100-meter breaststroke, respectively.
