AUSTIN, Texas -- A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) test on Monday confirmed that redshirt freshman QB Sherrod Harris sprained the media collateral ligament (MCL) in his left knee during Sunday night's practice.
"No timetable has been set on his return," Longhorn head athletic trainer for football Kenny Boyd said. "We will be evaluating him on a daily basis in hopes that he can be back in time for the season opener."
The 6-3, 219-pound Arlington Bowie High School graduate spent the 2006 season redshirting and is competing with true freshman John Chiles for the Longhorns' backup quarterback job.
"I'm disappointed that I'm going to have to miss some practice time because of the injury, but I'm still going to be out at practice every day preparing for the season with my teammates and coaches," Harris said. "I'll work with the trainers and doctors to get my knee back to 100 percent and return to the field as soon as possible."
