Pittman sidelined with injury

AUSTIN, Texas -- Longhorn senior receiver Billy Pittman was forced to watch today's practice from the sidelines in a sling after sustaining a left shoulder injury late in Friday's practice.
"Billy will be out indefinitely," Longhorn head athletic trainer for football Kenny Boyd said. "We will continue to evaluate him and monitor his progress in hopes of getting him back in time for the season opener."
A two-time honorable mention All-Big 12 selection, the 6-0, 200-pound Pittman has caught 69 passes for 1,206 yards and nine TDs over the last two seasons. The Cameron, Texas (Yoe HS) native and former prep QB star has recorded four 100-yard receiving games during his career. He has caught a pass in each of the last 12 games and 22 of 26 career games.
"I felt like I was having a really good camp and in the best shape of my career so I'm pretty disappointed about getting hurt," Pittman said. "I have faith in our doctors, trainers and strength staff that they will get me back as soon as possible, hopefully for the first game. I'm going to listen to them and be patient because I know how important it is for me to get this shoulder back to 100 percent and strong enough to handle a long season."
