AUSTIN, Texas -- The No. 12 University of Texas soccer team played No. 18 Oklahoma State to a 0-0 draw after a 110 minute tussle Sunday afternoon at Mike A. Myers Stadium. The Longhorns held the nation's top scoring offense without a goal for the first time this season and collected their third consecutive shutout.
UT, which extended its home unbeaten streak to 25 straight matches with the tie, is now 10-2-3 overall and 3-2-2 in Big 12 play while the Cowgirls move to 13-1-2 and 4-1-2 in league action.
Both teams saw many scoring opportunities fail to reach the back of the net in the tightly contested match, including two Texas headers in the final minute of double overtime. UT forced two corner kicks giving freshman Courtney Goodson a pair of headers in the OSU box.
Goodson's first ball was deflected out by OSU Keeper Erin Stinger giving UT another chance from the corner. This time the freshman's shot was saved by the Cowgirl defense which was able to clear the ball out of the scoring area.
Freshman Kylie Doniak produced a team-high of five shots, two of which were on frame. Doniak sparked the Longhorn offense early in the second half after her shot from 25 yards out bounced off the crossbar in the 52nd minute.
Oklahoma State, who entered the match averaging 3.73 goals per outing, picked up its attack just five minutes later when senior Yolanda Odenyo drove the ball deep into the Texas box. UT keeper Dianna Pfenninger dove and deflected the ball to the left side of the field to OSU's Kasey Langdon but the junior's shot was blocked by the Texas defense.
Doniak struck again in the 62nd minute, forcing Stigler to make a diving save and set up a UT corner kick. In the final minutes of regulation, Texas had another promising look after an Oklahoma State foul set up a Texas free kick just outside of the 18-yard box in the 83rd minute. Stephanie Logterman took the kick and after the ball bounced off the Cowgirl line, the senior fired a hard ball that bounced off the right post.
Both squads took three shots in the first set of extra minutes but neither was able to capitalize forcing the second overtime. Texas, playing in its sixth double-overtime match of the season, outshot OSU 19-16.
Texas takes its final road trip of the regular season next week traveling to Kansas on Friday, Oct. 24. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. Central. The Longhorns then travel to Missouri for a 1 p.m. Central match on Sunday, Oct. 26.

On the team's play: We gave the effort that we have been lacking over the last few weeks. Everyone out there was playing at 100%.
On the Texas offense: I think we made some great improvements. Our defense is solid, so once we can get the front working smoothly, we will be unstoppable.
On the game overall: It was a little unfortunate that we weren't able to seize the win, but we are all really pleased with our effort.

On the changes that have been happening with the team: We've been working really hard at practice and it is showing. We are getting a little more organized, even with the different personnel in the back. Leah [Payne] is doing great, we are really proud of her.
On her new defensive position: I definitely had to step up my leadership. Communication back there is very important. Working with Leah [Payne] has also forced me to step up because I wanted her to feel comfortable and be there to back her up. After her performance, especially as a freshman, we couldn't be happier with the way she is playing back there.
On shutting out the top scoring team in the nation: It feels great. Anytime you can get a shutout, as a defender, you are really happy.
HEAD COACH Chris Petrucelli
On today's performance overall: I thought we played really well. Our effort was outstanding and we created goal scoring chances, which is something we had been lacking a little bit. I think the game could be described as two really good teams really going at each other. We were a little unfortunate that we didn't get a goal, but I think we played really well overall.
On the new formation: I think we found something here that may really work for us. I think that Erica did a great job in the back, and Kasey was dangerous up top.
