No. 7 Men's Tennis tops Arkansas, 7-0

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- For a second consecutive match, No. 7 Texas swept all nine doubles and singles matches, as the Longhorns improved to 3-0 with a 7-0 victory over Arkansas Friday evening at the Dills Indoor Tennis Center.
"This was a big test for us, being a big road match at a tough place to play," UT coach Michael Center said. "Arkansas had a very good crowd here, but the guys handled everything well and beat a very good Arkansas team. I'm really happy with our play tonight."
Texas decisively won all three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. Seniors Hubert Chodkiewicz and Luis Diaz Barriga tallied an 8-3 win over Chris Nott and Dmitry Lebedev at the second slot, and freshmen Ed Corrie and Kellen Damico nailed down the doubles point with an 8-4 win at first doubles over Blake Strode and Colin Mascall. Sophomores Dimitar Kutrovsky and Josh Zavala finished off the doubles sweep with an easy 8-2 win at the third slot over Bradwin Williams and Tyler Tarnasky.
Texas quickly pushed its lead to 2-0 as senior Milan Mihailovic scored a 6-2, 6-1 win over Williams at sixth singles. Diaz Barriga extended the cushion to 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Matt Hogan at fourth singles, and Kutrovsky clinched the Longhorns' victory with a 6-4, 6-4 win over the Razorbacks' 76th-ranked Strode at first singles.
Texas' lead ballooned to 5-0 when the Longhorns' 52nd-ranked freshman Corrie defeated Nott at third singles, 7-6, 6-1. Damico fought off Arkansas' Mascall at second singles, winning by a 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 count, and Zavala finished off the Longhorns victory with a third-set super-tiebreak win over Lebedev at the fifth slot.
Texas resumes competition on Sunday, Feb. 3 when it hosts Texas-San Antonio at noon and Texas-Arlington at 6 p.m. at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center.
