No. 18 Women's Tennis blanks Oklahoma, 7-0

NORMAN, Okla. -- No. 18 Texas (7-2, 2-0 Big 12) took two of three doubles matches and swept the six singles matches en route to a 7-0 victory over Oklahoma (6-4, 0-1) Saturday afternoon at the Headington Family Tennis Center.
Texas claimed the first and second doubles matches to capture the doubles point. Junior Marija Milic and sophomore Vanja Corovic tallied an 8-6 win over OU's Ana-Maria Constantinescu and Chelsea Orr at the first slot, and the Longhorns nailed down the point when senior Courtney Zauft and freshman Maggie Mello registered a 9-7 win at the second slot over Christi Baxley and Elena Antakova.
Texas sophomore Sarah Lancaster pushed the Longhorns' lead to 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-1 defeat of Baxley at fifth singles. Corovic gave UT a 3-0 lead with her 6-4, 6-4 triumph over Constantinescu at first singles, and Texas clinched the team victory when sophomore Stephanie Davison defeated Maria Kalashnikova at third singles, 6-3, 7-5.
Mello pushed the lead to 5-0 with a tight 7-6, 7-5 win at fourth singles over Antakova, and Zauft extended the lead to 6-0 with a 7-6, 6-4 win over Orr at second singles. Sophomore Jane Pringle collected her first conference win of the season with a 7-5, 0-6, 7-6 victory over Tara Eckel at sixth singles.
Texas resumes competition on Wednesday, March 19 when it hosts No. 8 Southern California at 1:30 p.m. Central.
