No. 17 Women's Tennis blanks Iowa State, 7-0

AUSTIN, Texas -- No. 17 Texas (9-4, 3-0 Big 12) made short work of Iowa State (4-7, 0-4), sweeping the nine doubles and singles matches in about a two-hour span to claim a 7-0 win over the Cyclones Friday afternoon at UT's Penick-Allison Tennis Center.
Texas claimed easy wins at all three doubles positions, as sophomore Vanja Corovic and junior Marija Milic opened with an 8-1 win at the first slot over Erin Karonis and Chrissy Derouin. UT clinched the doubles point at the third slot, as freshman Abby Liu, making her doubles debut in conference play, teamed up with senior Courtney Zauft for an 8-2 win over Liza Wischer and Alyssa Palen.
Sophomore Stephanie Davison and freshman Caroline Larsson finished off the sweep with an 8-3 win at second doubles over Caitlin Loprinzi and Kara Hickey.
Sophomore Sarah Lancaster pushed the UT lead to 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 win at fifth singles over Derouin, and Milic added on a 6-1, 6-0 win over Wischer at the sixth slot. Texas clinched the team victory at the third slot when Davison dealt Loprinzi a 6-0, 6-1 defeat.
Corovic finished off ISU's Hickey by a 6-1, 6-1 count at second singles, and Zauft, playing at first singles, defeated Karonis by a 6-2, 6-0 count at first singles. Larsson finished off the victory at fourth singles with a 6-0, 6-3 win over the Cyclones' Palen.
Texas resumes competition on Saturday when it hosts Nebraska at noon Central.
