No. 3 Baylor stops Women's Tennis, 7-0

AUSTIN, Texas -- No. 3 Baylor (25-2, 11-0 Big 12) took two of three doubles and won all six matches en route to a 7-0 victory over No. 21 Texas (15-5, 9-1 Big 12) Saturday afternoon at UT's Penick-Allison Tennis Center.
As a result of the loss, Texas will be the No. 2 seed at next week's Big 12 Championship set for April 24-27 in College Station. The Longhorns have earned a first-round bye and will play on Friday, April 25 at 3 p.m. Central against an opponent to be determined.
Texas sophomore Stephanie Davison and freshman Caroline Larsson defeated Baylor's 55th-ranked duo of Taylor Ormond and Jelena Stanivuk at second singles, 8-5, but the Bears took the remaining matches at the first and third slots to clinch the doubles point.
Baylor tacked on to its lead at fifth singles, when Stanivuk defeated UT sophomore Sarah Lancaster, 6-1, 6-1. The Bears' Zuzana Zemenova dealt UT sophomore Vanja Corovic a 6-2, 6-1 defeat at second first singles, and Baylor clinched the team victory at fourth singles when Jana Bielikova defeated Texas freshman Caroline Larsson, 6-2, 6-2.
Baylor pushed its lead to 5-0 at second singles when Broosova outlasted UT senior Courtney Zauft, 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-3). The Bears assumed a 6-0 lead at the third slot when Ormond defeated Davison, 1-6, 6-0, 6-4, and Baylor finished off the victory at sixth singles when Karolina Filipiak knocked off UT freshman Maggie Mello, 6-7 (3), 6-4, 1-0 (10-8).
Texas completes the regular season on Sunday, April 20 when it hosts Texas Tech on Senior Day at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center. First serve is set for noon Central.
