Chang places 31st in 50m freestyle at Beijing Olympics

BEIJING -- University of Texas senior swimmer Hee-Jin Chang completed her program Friday at the 2008 Beijing Olympics by taking 31st in the 90-swimmer 50-freestyle field.
Chang, competing in her second Olympiad for her native South Korea, placed fifth in the ninth preliminary heat in 25.59 seconds and finished in 31st place. Australia's Cate Campbell landed the top seed in 24.20, and American Dara Torres qualified third in 24.58.
Chang placed 32nd in the 100m freestyle on Aug. 13 in Beijing. Chang also competed as a 14-year old at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
