TEAM NOTES
- Texas rolled up 600 yards of total offense. It marked the 19th time in school history and the ninth time under Mack Brown that the Longhorns have reached the 600-yard plateau.
- Texas held an opponent to under 20 rushing yards for the 17th time in school history and the 15th time under Mack Brown.
- Texas held an opponent to under 40 rushing yards for the second time this season. The Horns held Florida Atlantic to 37 rushing yards and Rice to 17 rushing yards.
- With the win, Mack Brown moved into a tie with John Cooper for 23rd place on the all-time wins list for the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision with 192.
- Texas has not allowed a TD in the first quarter this season.
- With Quan Cosby's 154 yards against UTEP and Jordan Shipley's 155 yards against Rice, Texas had a player log over 150 receiving yards in a game for the second consecutive game. It marked the first time Texas accomplished the feat since 2000 when Roy Williams logged 180 yards against Kansas and B.J. Johnson logged 187 yards against Texas A&M.
- Texas had it's first 99-yard scoring drive since the 2007 season, when the Longhorns went the distance of the field in the fourth quarter against Oklahoma State. The Longhorns also had a 99-yard drive in the first quarter against Rice in 2005.
- Goal-line stand: After facing a first and goal at the two yard-line, the Longhorns held on a determined goal-line stand that featured 11 snaps (10 of which came from inside the five-yard line), eight plays and covered just one yard. It ended when Brian Orakpo's pressure forced a Rice failed fourth down pass attempt with 2:45 remaining in the second quarter. Defensively, Lamarr Houston and Sergio Kindle each posted two tackles, Roy Miller recorded a stop, Brian Orakpo batted down a pass and recorded a pressure and Aaron Lewis batted down a pass.
- Texas scored 50 or more points for the 35th time since Mack Brown's arrival.
- Texas scored 50 or more points against Rice for the fourth consecutive season. They've outscored Rice 213-41 in the four games.
- Texas has produced at least 400 yards of total offense in 62 of its last 93 games. The Longhorns 83-2 when recording more than 400 yards of total offense in the Mack Brown era.
- Since Mack Brown took over in 1998, UT has produced 36 games with 500 or more yards of total offense (there are only 59 of them in the 116 years of Texas football).
- Texas improved to 54-6 (.900) in home games during the Mack Brown era.
- Texas improved to 90-3 (.968) when outrushing an opponent in the Mack Brown era.
- Texas improved to 79-15 (.840) when passing for more than 200 yards in the Mack Brown era.
- Texas improved to 102-12 (.895) when scoring more than 20 points in the Mack Brown era.
- Texas improved to 88-7 (.926) when leading at halftime in the Mack Brown era.
- Texas improved to 60-0 (1.000) when rushing for more than 200 yards in the Mack Brown era.
- Texas eclipsed the 200-yard mark both rushing and passing for the second time this season. The Horns have logged 200 yards both rushing and passing 42 times under Mack Brown and Greg Davis.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES
Sam Acho
- Acho recorded his first sack of the season and moved his career total to 2.5.

John Chiles
- Chiles' 25-yard TD run with 11:07 remaining in the fourth quarter was his first of the season and the third of his career.
- Chiles' 25-yard TD run was the longest rush of his career. He logged two 23-yard runs last season, including one against Rice and one against Iowa State.
- Chiles' 72 rushing yards tied a career best. He also rushed for 72 yards against Rice in 2007.

Quan Cosby
- Cosby caught a pass in his 35th consecutive game.
- Cosby's 5-yard TD reception with 8:28 remaining in the third quarter was his second of the season and the 11th of his career.
- Cosby ended the game with 1,753 yards, passing Wane McGarity (1,687) for seventh place on the Longhorns' career receiving yards list.

Cody Johnson
- Johnson's 1-yard TD run with 3:59 remaining in the fourth quarter was his third of the season.
- Logged career highs with 15 carries and 67 yards. His previous bests were 10 rushes and 38 yards against Florida Atlantic.

Sergio Kindle
- Midway through the third quarter, Kindle recorded his first career solo sack.

James Kirkendoll
- Kirkendoll equaled a career-high with two receptions. He also had two receptions against Florida Atlantic in the opener.

Hunter Lawrence
- Lawrence's 40-yard field goal kick with 0:07 remaining in the second quarter. It equaled his career-long and made him 3-for-3 for his career.

Aaron Lewis
- Lewis recorded 1.5 sacks to move his season total to 1.5 and his career total to 6.5.

Colt McCoy
- McCoy became the UT career TD pass leader with 62. His four TD passes in the game allowed pass Major Applewhite (60) for the all-time mark.
- McCoy's 412 yards of total offense ranks fourth on UT's single-game list. Vince Young logged 506 yards against Oklahoma State and 467 yards against USC during the 2005 season. Major Applewhite logged 476 yards against Washington in 2001.
- With his 412 yards, McCoy passed Peter Gardere (7,409) for fourth place on UT's all-time list for yards of total offense. McCoy ended the game with 7,562 yards on his career ledger.
- McCoy moved his career record as a starter to 23-6 and is now in sole possession of seventh place on the UT career mark. He is two wins shy of James Brown (25-13-1) and Peter Gardere (25-16) for fifth place on the UT all-time list.
- McCoy threw for 269 yards in the first half, tied for third-highest first half passing total on school annals. Major Applewhite threw for 314 yards against Stanford in 1999 and McCoy tossed for 295 against Rice in 2007. 269-yard efforts were turned in by Chris Simms against Kansas in 2001 and Applewhite in Oklahoma State in 1998.
- In the last two games against Rice, McCoy has thrown for a combined 564 yards in the two first halves. Both of the two efforts are ranked among the top 5 in school annals.
- McCoy passed for 200 or more yards in a game for the 20th time in his career. He moved into a tie with James Brown for second place on UT's career list. The duo trails only Major Applewhite (29).
- McCoy's 8-yard TD run with 6:44 remaining in the first quarter was his second of the season and the eighth of his career.
- McCoy rushed and passed for a TD for the second time in three games. He has done it five times in his career.
- After throwing incomplete on his first pass attempt of the game, McCoy completed 13 in a row, tying the record he set in the season opener against Florida Atlantic. It is also tied for fourth on UT's all-time list, two shy of McCoy's 15 straight completions against Oklahoma State, Kansas State and Texas A&M in 2006 and Vince Young's 15 straight completions against Colorado and USC in 2005 and one short of Vince Young's 14 against Oklahoma State and Kansas in 2004.
- McCoy has his fifth career 300-yard passing game. He ranks third on UT's all-time list, trailing only Major Applewhite (9) and James Brown (7).
- McCoy had his second game of the season of 80 or more rushing yards and the fourth 80-yard effort of his career.

Jared Norton
- Norton recorded his first sack of the season and moved his career total to three.

Chris Ogbonnaya
- Ogbonnaya's 46-yard TD reception with 0:03 remaining in the third quarter was the second of the season and his career.
- Ogbonnaya's 46-yard TD reception was a career long. In each of the last three seasons, his season-long has come against Rice, including a 19-yarder in 2006 and a 35-yard in 2007.
- Ogbonnaya logged a career-high with 58 receiving yards. His previous best was 45 yards against Rice in 2007.

Brian Orakpo
- Orakpo recorded two sacks, moving his season total to four and his career total to 14.5.

Jordan Shipley
- Shipley recorded his first career 100-yard game. His 155-yard effort ranked 22nd on UT's single-game list.
- With his two TD receptions, Shipley moved his career total to 13, tied for Keith Cash for ninth place on UT's all-time list.
- Shipley's 60-yard TD reception tied a career-long. He also had a 60-yard Oklahoma State in 2007.

Attendance: 97,201 - UT's 48th consecutive sellout and second-largest home crowd in UT history.
