No. 14 Men's Cross Country defeats UTSA in dual meet

AUSTIN, Texas -- Sophomore Brian Rhodes-Devey won his first ever cross country race and helped the 14th-ranked Texas men's cross country team defeat UTSA in a dual meet at the Ricardo Romo/Six Flags Fiesta Texas Classic in San Antonio. The Horns tallied 56 points to finish ahead of the Roadrunners, who scored 65 points.
Rhodes-Devey used a 15:39 to place first in the event, while freshmen Brock Simmons (15:45.1) and Lorin Wilson (15:45.9) finished second and third, respectively. UTSA's first runner, Layne Nixon, came across the line in fourth place.
Senior Jacob Hernandez placed sixth (16:02.4) and sophomore Logan Gonzales was the Horns' other scorer, finishing 15th in 17:08.8. Freshman Robert Gibson also saw action and placed 16th with a time of 17:11.3.
The Horns next scheduled meet is the Big 12 Championship in Ames, Iowa on Saturday, Nov. 1.
