Longhorns travel to Mizzou for Pre Nats
AUSTIN, Texas - The Texas cross country program is set to return to action Friday, October 17th at the Pre National meet in Columbia, Mo. The women's 6k will begin at 10:00 a.m followed by the men's 8k scheduled at 10:45 a.m.
Senior Elizabeth Pickett led the women's team to a victory at the Chile Pepper Invitational, finishing third overall with a personal best time of 16:15.4. Isabel Conde De Frankenberg, Melody Espinoza, Lily Fawcett and Kaylin Rendon also set PBs at the invitational helping Texas defend its Chile Pepper title. Freshman Sydney Wilkins and Junior Aishling Callanan were the final scorers for the women.
Senior Nathane Berhane led the men's team to a second place finish at Chile Pepper with his time of 23:53.1, finishing seventh overall. Senior Hudson Heikkinen (24.00.5) and freshman Aidan Torres (24:06.5) aim to build on their ninth and tenth place finishes. Hudson Bennett, Trey Rios, Jack Boyd, and Joaquin De La Cruz will also return to the course for Texas in one of the biggest meets of the season so far.
