AUSTIN, Texas -- With players returning to campus for classes this week, the coaches announced the weekly award winners for the Fiesta Bowl win over Ohio State.
The Offensive Player of the Game Award went to both QB Colt McCoy and WR Quan Cosby. McCoy went 41-of-58 for 414 yards with two TDs and also had a 14-yard TD run. Both the 41 completions and 58 attempts set BCS and Texas records, while the 414 yards were the second most in a BCS game and the third most in UT history.
Cosby set a career high and UT bowl game record with 14 receptions, which is also the second-highest single-game total in school history, for 171 yards and two TDs. The 171 receiving yards rank 14th on UT's single-game list and second in bowl games. It marked just the eighth time a Texas receiver posted at least 100 yards in a bowl game. The two TD receptions also tied a UT bowl record.
The Boss Hawg Award went to C Chris Hall as the offensive lineman who graded out the highest. Hall helped the Longhorns amass 486 total yards, including 414 passing. Hall also continued to overcome a knee injury that caused him to miss the last two regular season games.
The Biggest Contributor Award went to WRs Jordan Shipley and Brandon Collins. Shipley totaled 10 catches for 78 yards, the third time he caught at least 10 passes in a game during the season. He also returned four kickoffs for 82 yards for 160 all-purpose yards. Collins had a career-high seven receptions for 60 yards, including three catches for 34 yards on the game-winning drive.
The Great Play went to WR James Kirkendoll, who stretched through the tackle of an Ohio State defender for a first down on fourth-and-three during the game-winning drive. Two plays later, McCoy found Cosby on a 26-yard TD pass for a 24-21 lead with 16 seconds remaining.
The Defensive Player of the Game Award went to DT Roy Miller. Miller recorded three tackles, including a sack for eight yards on QB Terrelle Pryor in the third quarter. Meanwhile the Hard Hat Award for the game's biggest hit went to LB Roddrick Muckelroy, who stood up RB Chris Wells early in the fourth quarter, helping hold Ohio State to a field goal on the possession.
The Special Teams Player of the Game was awarded to K/P Justin Tucker. Tucker punted five times with an average of 46.8 yards per punt and a long of 58 yards with two touchbacks. He also kicked off five times with an average of 63.2 yards per kick.
