No. 3 Women's Swimming and Diving tops Houston, 87-51

HOUSTON -- In a meet featuring conventional strokes at unconventional distances, No. 3 Texas (9-1) won 14 events on its way to an 87-51 victory over Houston Wednesday evening at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center Natatorium.
Texas claimed the opening event, the 100-yard medley relay, before UT sophomore Ashleigh McCleery claimed the 300 freestyle in 2:50.80. Sophomore Adrienne Woods claimed the 75 freestyle in 37.47, and sophomore Abbie Mahoney took the 75 backstroke in 41.32. Sophomore Carlye Ellis added a win in the 75 breaststroke in 46.83 before Woods claimed the 25 freestyle in 11.09.
Senior Jacqueline Martin-Lacey followed by winning the 50 butterfly in 25.94, and senior diver Jessica Livingston took second in a two-dive one-meter event with 106.80 points. UT scored its second relay victory in the 150 freestyle relay in 1:09.59, and Mahoney notched a win in the 50 backstroke in 25.89.
Ellis captured the 50 breaststroke in 29.79, and freshman Becca Tomlin was victorious in the 75 butterfly in 41.27. Sophomore Brie Powers claimed the lone conventional event of the evening, the 50 freestyle, in 23.52, and McCleery and Mahoney managed to tie in the 100 IM in 57.76. UT ended the meet with a win in the 100 freestyle relay in 44.26.
Texas begins competition in the Big 12 Championships on Feb. 25 in Columbia, Mo.
