No. 12 Men's Tennis tops Oklahoma State, 5-2

TULSA, Okla. -- No. 12 Texas (13-3, 1-0 Big 12) captured the doubles point and added four singles wins in a 5-2 win over Oklahoma State (6-2, 0-1 Big 12) Friday in the Big 12 Conference regular-season opener for both teams. The match was relocated from OSU's DeBois Tennis Center and moved to a 7 p.m. start at the University of Tulsa's Michael D. Case Tennis Center due to inclement weather at OSU's campus in Stillwater, Okla.
Texas claimed the doubles point with wins at the second and third slots. Juniors Dimitar Kutrovsky and Josh Zavala posted an 8-6 win at the second position over OSU's Anton Bobytskyi and Mikhail Trukshanin. Senior Miguel Reyes Varela and junior Olivier Sajous added an 8-4 win over Igor Sobolta and Aleksey Bessonov at third doubles.
Oklahoma State was victorious at the first and fifth singles positions, but the Longhorns took the remaining four singles matches to earn the team victory. UT sophomore Ed Corrie posted a 6-4, 6-4 win over the Cowboys' Nathan Byrnes at second singles, while Reyes Varela chipped in a 6-3, 6-2 win over Trukshanin at third singles.
Sajous rallied for a 2-6, 7-6, 1-0 (12-10) win over Aleksey Bessonov at fourth singles, and Zavala tallied a 6-4, 6-4 win over Sobolta at sixth singles.
"It's nice to get a conference win on the road," UT coach Michael Center said. "We had to travel up to Tulsa and play indoors, and we hadn't played much indoors lately. I saw some really good things out there tonight."
Texas concludes its weekend road swing on Sunday at Oklahoma.
