No. 12 Men's Tennis stops Oklahoma, 5-2

NORMAN, Okla. -- No. 12 Texas (14-3, 2-0 Big 12) took the doubles point and collected four singles victories in a 5-2 win over Oklahoma (7-6, 0-3) Sunday at OU's Headington Family Tennis Center.
The Longhorns secured wins in two of the three doubles matches to lock up the doubles point. Sophomores Ed Corrie and Kellen Damico tallied an 8-5 win at first doubles over OU's Sergey Avdeyev and Ionut Beleleu, and UT senior Miguel Reyes Varela and junior Olivier Sajous teamed up for a 9-7 win at the third slot over the Sooners' George Chanturia and Blake Boswell.
Oklahoma responded with a pair of singles victories, but Texas ran off four victories to seal the team victory. Corrie tallied a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles over David Pultr, and Sajous added a 6-1, 7-5 win at third singles over Avdeyev. Zavala chipped in the clinching victory by outlasting Chanturia at fifth singles, 7-6 (6), 6-3. Damico added a 7-6 (4), 6-7 (2), 1-0 (10-6) win at fourth singles to cap the victory.
"This was a very difficult match today," UT coach Michael Center said. "The wind got a little gusty out here, and Oklahoma played with a tremendous amount of energy and fight. We really had to fight, but it was nice to get another win on the road heading into our match this week with Baylor."
Texas takes on No. 10 Baylor on Thursday, April 2 at UT's Penick-Allison Tennis Center. First serve is set for 6 p.m. Central.
