What is your favorite thing to do in Austin besides play softball? The food. Kerbey Lane -- it's awesome. The queso is amazing. We don't have that in California. I also recently experienced the Alamo Drafthouse, and that was pretty cool.
Did you have food at the Drafthouse as well? Yeah, some green chile mac-n-cheese. It was good, and so was the movie. I saw "The Soloist."
Was it difficult eating the mac-n-cheese in the darkness of a theater? No. I'm pretty good with food.
What do you miss about California? The beach. I'm from Oceanside, so I'm used to being right by the ocean. I could walk there, ride my bike there, do whatever. But I was traumatized by a jellyfish when I was a little kid, so I'm kind of scared of going in too deep now.
What lured you away from the beach to come to Texas? The tradition. On my visit, I went to a football game, and I just thought it was really cool being here.
Texas is a national program, but is there one thing about it that you think people don't realize? Probably how much hard work it is, academically and athletically.
Do you have any game-specific superstitions? No, not really. I do something different before every game. I'll do whatever at the spur of the moment.
What kind of TV shows do you watch? Discovery Health, and the Food Network.
What do you watch on the Food Network? Paula Deen.
