AUSTIN, Texas - An All-American at The University of Texas in 1995, Carrie Busch-Dodd is a member of a top-five tandem on the AVP tour and this season she is enjoying her finest beach season to-date. Dodd and teammate Dianne Shoemaker-DeNecochea have registered a top-five finish in each of their seven events in 2009, including a runner-up finish in May.
Busch-Dodd teamed with Shoemaker-DeNecochea to equal the best finish of her AVP career on May 31 when they finished second at the Atlanta Open. They fell to the top-ranked pair of Elaine Youngs and Nicole Branagh (19-21, 21-19, 15-8) in Atlanta.
After falling in the finals in Atlanta, Busch-Dodd and Shoemaker-DeNecochea responded with a third-place finish at the Ocean City Open on June 21. The semifinal appearance marked the fourth top-three finish for the duo in 2009.
Dodd along with Youngs are members of an esteemed AVP group, as the two are the only players to have both been ranked in the AVP's top 14 each season from 2001-2008.
Dodd, the 2002 AVP Setter of the Year, and Shoemaker-DeNecochea rank third in AVP winnings in 2009 with $67,320.
After earning first-team All-Southwest Conference honors and Texas Team MVP accolades in 1995, Busch-Dodd has gone on to a successful 10-year career on the beach.
