Volleyball to face SMU in ACC/SEC Showdown at the Net

Longhorns set for Sept. 9 contest at Moody Coliseum in Dallas.
<p><strong>AUSTIN, Texas –</strong> Texas Volleyball will travel to Dallas to face SMU on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Moody Coliseum as part of the ACC/SEC Showdown at the Net.</p> <p>The match will mark Texas' first trip to Dallas since 2004 and the third all-time meeting between the programs in the city. The Longhorns are 1-1 on the road against SMU, with the lone loss in the series coming in 2000.</p> <p>Texas holds a 5-1 advantage in the all-time series and has won each of the last four meetings. The teams last met in the second round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament, where the Longhorns swept SMU in Austin to advance to the NCAA Regional Semifinals. All six matches in the series have been decided in straight sets.</p> <p>In 2025, Texas advanced to the NCAA Regional Final for the 18th time in the last 20 seasons. The Longhorns finished 26-4 overall, including 12 wins against ranked opponents, highlighted by a program-record 18-match winning streak to open the season.</p> <p>SMU is coming off a 27-6 season in 2025, matching the program record for wins, and advanced to the NCAA Regional Semifinals.</p> <p>The match is part of Texas' 2026 nonconference slate, which also includes season-opening matches at the AVCA First Serve in Milwaukee, where the Longhorns will face Arizona State (Aug. 22) and Marquette (Aug. 24), and a matchup against Louisville (Sept. 6) at the Sprouts Farmers Market Broadway Block Party in Nashville, Tennessee. Texas will also host Wisconsin at the Moody Center on Sept. 13.</p> <p>Texas' full <a href="https://texaslonghorns.com/news/2026/4/22/volleyball-announces-2026-sec-conference-schedule">Southeastern Conference schedule</a> was announced Wednesday, featuring a 15-match slate and the return of the Allstate SEC Volleyball Tournament in Savannah, Georgia. Texas will play eight home matches at Gregory Gymnasium and seven on the road during the conference season.</p>
