TEXAS QUOTES
Head coach Gail Goestenkors
Opening statement: I'm pleased with the win and proud of the players. I thought they had really good energy and focus overall, and sometimes when you have a big lead you tend to lose your focus. They did a really nice job. We only had nine turnovers, and I think that shows they stayed focus. My favorite stat was 25 assists, I like it when we share the ball. Ashley Gayle did a really nice job of finding open players. We had the opportunity to work with different line-ups. We had a different starting line-up, and they did a great job of getting us going.
On Ashleigh Fontenette: When she was nine for nine in the first half it was a pleasant surprise. Especially the way she did it -- she hit three's, she had jump shots and layups. She did a little bit of everything which was nice to see. She's been working very hard and it's always good to see it pay off.
F Kristen Nash
On the current state of the team: Right now we're playing really good basketball. Everybody is really focused right now, and everybody has really hit their stride. We're ready for the Big 12.
G Ashleigh Fontenette
On the team's energy and focus: We came out ready to play. We knew it was going to be a tough game, so we came out and played hard. I think our main goal today was to take care of the ball. That's what we wanted to do and the rest just came.
