Men's Cross Country wins Princeton Invitational for second-straight year

The Longhorn cross country team took first place at the Princeton Invitational in Princeton, N.J. on Saturday, with Texas runners placing in the top three spots. The squad totaled 23 points to claim victory at the meet, followed by Princeton (69) and Haverford (74).
Freshman Ryan Dohner led the way for the Longhorns with his first place finish, clocking a time of 24:24.70. Right behind him were freshman Patrick McGreogor and junior Brian Rhodes-Devey in second (24:35.60) and third place (24:37.00), respectively.
Junior Brock Simmons took eighth place with a time of 24:49.40. Senior Bradley Lowry finished right behind him in ninth, recording a time of 24:50.00. Sophomore Collin Smith finished in 24:55.90 and took tenth. Rounding out scoring for the Horns was Sophomore Austin Roth with a time of 24:58.50 and thirteenth place.
Also competing on Saturday were eight other Longhorn runners at the Concordia Invitational in Cedar Park, Texas. The Texas men won the event with 28 points. Rounding out the top three were Texas State (42) and Southwestern (95).
Sophomore Raymond Joseph took second place in the 5,000-meter race in a time of 15:18.00. The next Texas finisher was sophomore Chase Rathke in fourth place, crossing in a time of 15:28.00.
Four Texas runners finished consecutively with Kirk Wilkinson placing eighth (15:36.00), Kevin Rayes in ninth (15:40.00), Logan Gonzales finishing tenth (15:44.00) and John McNamara taking eleventh (15:51.00). Sophomore CJ Jessett (15:54.00) and freshman Mike Quercia (16:11.00) finished shortly after in thirteenth and seventeenth place, respectively.
Next up, the Longhorns will compete at the Big 12 Championships in Stillwater, Okla. on Oct. 30.
