- The Longhorns take the course for the first time since finishing fourth at the Big 12 Championship in Stillwater, Okla. Freshman Ryan Dohner led the Longhorns with a 20th-place finish.
- Expected to run for the Horns in Waco will be senior Bradley Lowry, juniors Brian Rhodes-Devey and Brock Simmons, sophomores Collin Smith Austin Roth, redshirt freshman Patrick McGregor and freshmen Ryan Dohner and Will Nation.
- The Texas men finished second at the 2009 South Central Regional to qualify for the national meet. The Longhorns were led by fourth-place finisher Habben Berhane. In addition, currently Longhorns Brian Rhodes-Devey, Brock Simmons, Austin Roth and Bradley Lowry all got regional experience and will look to help the Longhorns qualify for the second-straight year.
- Texas heads to the South Central Regional with three team wins on the season at the Texas State Dual Meet, the Concordia Invitational and the Princeton Invite. Freshman Ryan Dohner claimed his first collegiate title at the Princeton Invitational, finishing in 24:24.70.
- If the Longhorns finish in the top two of the regional, they will move on to the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. on Monday, Nov. 22. Texas tied for 28th at last year's NCAA Cross Country Championship. In addition, the top four finishers not on the two automatically qualifying teams will earn automatic entry to the national meet.
-Last time out, the Longhorns placed fourth at the 2010 Big 12 Championships behind freshman Ryan Dohner, who placed 20th in 25:00.73. Texas totaled 127 points, for its highest finish since 2007 and crossed the line ahead of Texas A&M, earning UT a point in the annual State Farm Lone Star Showdown standings.
