TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The University of Texas Men's Cross Country team placed 26th at the NCAA Cross Country Championship Monday morning held in Terre Haute, Ind. The Longhorns' finish is two spots above last year's NCAA Championships where they tied for 28th.
The Longhorns scored 595 points, led by freshman Ryan Dohner, who clocked a 30:52.8 for 60th place. Redshirt freshman Patrick McGregor finished second for the Horns coming in 110th in 31.28.1. Junior Brock Simmons posted a 31:40.7 for 129th while junior Brian Rhodes-Devey and sophomore Collin Smith rounded out scoring for the Horns, placing 133rd (31:44.0) and 163rd (32:04.6), respectively. Also contributing to the Texas effort were sophomore Austin Roth (167th, 32:09.3) and senior Bradley Lowry (175th, 32:23.9).
Oklahoma State won the men's team championship with 73 points followed by Florida State (193 points), Wisconsin (223 points), Stanford (237 points) and Oklahoma (281 points). Liberty's Sam Chelanga claimed the individual title, finishing the 10K course in 29:22.2.
The NCAA Championships wrap up the season for the Longhorns. Next up, they will begin the indoor track and field season in early 2011.
