SAN DIEGO -- Yvonne Anderson led four players in double-figure scoring with 18 points as No. 23 Texas downed San Diego 81-57 in the Maggie Dixon Surf `n Slam Classic (Torero Division) championship on Thursday.
Chassidy Fussell was tabbed tournament Most Valuable Player while Anderson and Ashley Gayle were named to the all-tourney team.
Fussell added 17 points for Texas (10-3) and Chelsea Bass contributed 10. Kathleen Nash recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds in the Longhorns' fifth straight win since their 92-77 loss to No. 8 Tennessee in Austin on Dec. 12.
Sam Child scored a game-high 19 points and Morgan Woodrow had 14 for San Diego (9-4), which shot 27.8 percent (20-of-72) to Texas' 41.3 percent (26-63). Emily Hath finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
With a 40-18 halftime lead, the Longhorns remained in control of the Toreros in the second half paced by Fussell's nine second-half points.
Texas advanced to the championship game after beating Cincinnati 80-77 on Tuesday when Fussell made a tiebreaking 3-pointer with 1.3 seconds left. San Diego topped Hofstra 85-83 in an overtime victory in the first contest of the four-game tournament.
The Longhorns return to Austin and host Sam Houston State on Sunday, Jan. 2 at 2 p.m. Central.

Yvonne Anderson

-Reached double-figure scoring for the third time with 10 points
Chassidy Fussell
-Reached double-figure scoring for the 11th time and sixth straight game with 17 points.
Ashley Gayle
-Pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds, including 10 in the first half ... reached double-figure rebounds for the sixth time this season.
-Recorded five blocks ... has reached three or more blocks in UT's last four games.
-With 219 career blocks, is just two shy of tying Angela Jackson's 221 for third all-time in Texas' individual career record book.
Kathleen Nash
-Recorded her fourth double-double of the season and 12th of her career with 11 rebounds and 14 points ... her first double-double since collecting 17 points and 12 rebounds against Idaho State on Nov. 24, 2010.
-Reached double-figure scoring for the 13th straight game.
