DMR leads Men's Track and Field at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA -- Texas' distance medley relay finished fifth in the Championship of America to lead the Longhorns at the Penn Relays on Friday. The team of senior Tevas Everett, juniors Danzell Fortson and Logan Gonzales and freshman Patrick Todd clocked a 9:39.08, which is the seventh-fastest time in UT history.
Gonzales led off with the 1,200-meter leg in 2:59.48, followed by Fortson, who ran the 400 in 46.05. Everett was next with the 800-meter leg (1:50.24), while Todd closed in 4:03.31.
In the 110-meter hurdles, freshman Keiron Stewart clocked a 14.04 to notch the fifth-fastest time of the day. He advanced to the finals on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. (Central). The 4x400-meter relay also advanced to the college final after running a 3:09.80. Fortson led off in 47.7 and gave to senior Tevan Everett, who split 47.9. Junior Andre Thomas was next, rounding the track in 46.5, and senior Jonathan Collins anchored in 47.7.
In the field events, freshman Hayden Baillio placed second in the championship shot put with a mark of 59-7.50. Sophomore Jacob Thormaehlen was third with a throw of 58-6.75. Baillio also placed sixth in the championship discus with a mark of 168-6.
Last night, junior Brian Rhodes-Devey placed 19th in the college 5,000 meters with a time of 14:43.07
