Davis-Woodhall claims gold, Alfred bronze at World Championships

Davis-Woodhall adds second outdoor title.
TOKYO – Tara Davis-Woodhall claimed her first World Outdoor title to pair with her Olympic gold in long jump on the second day of the 2025 World Athletics Outdoor Championships.
Davis-Woodhall brought home gold for Team USA on her first jump of 7.08m and never relinquished the title. She bettered her lead in the fourth round with a world-leading 7.13m and best mark since June of 2024. Davis-Woodhall hasn't lost a competition since winning silver at the 2023 World Championships.
Fellow Texes Ex Chantel Malone of the British Virgin Islands finished 12th overall with her jump of 6.33m.
Julien Alfred continued to make history for Saint Lucia winning the country's first-ever World Outdoor Championship medal after finishing third in the 100-meter dash. Alfred posted a time of 10.84 for bronze. She cruised in the opening rounds with times of 10.93 in both the qualifying round and semifinal. Alfred will run in the 200-meter on Wednesday.
Stacey Ann Williams qualified for the 400-meter semis after running a personal best time of 49.59 for the auto Q. It's the first time in her career she's ran sub-50 seconds. The semis are scheduled for Wednesday at 7:07 am.
Mariam Abdul Rashid was the final Longhorn in action in the women's 100-meter hurdles finishing 28th overall with a time of 13.02.
