POST MEET QUOTES
Head Coach Bubba Thornton
On the overall meet: Well I think when I look at the guys that are going to make up the conference team and then I look at the guys that will you know represent us at the NCAA championships, tonight we had a good starting point. These guys understand that this is our first meet and that this is where we're starting and we move forward.
On the team right now: We had a lot of things that we were pleased with on this first outing and we have some things that we have to correct in our preparation and how we approach this and as we do, we are going to do better and better.
On how the guys in the field events performed: The guys in the throws with Jacob [Thormaehlen] and Hayden [Baillio] that was a good start with those guys and then you go over to some of the things that Mark Jackson did tonight. He competed really well. As he gets more and more competition and consistencies like that he's going to become a real player for us. You look at Mark [Thomas] and Casey [Wicker] and those guys in the pole vault they did a good job tonight and of course Kenny [Greaves], he really looks like he is on track to do well. Jamaal [Wilson] can certainly with more competition and a few more practices he is going to be in that 7-3 7-4 range and so as we went through those pieces we were pleased with how that part of our team performed.
On how the guys in the sprints performed: On the track we can see where Keiron [Stewart] didn't have a great race but he is going to be one of the people that is going to be in the finals of the NCAAs and going to be a real force. We got into the short dash and it was good to see Alex [Williams] and DJ [Monroe] get back on the track and compete in races, they know they can be a lot better it's just part of the process. Marquise [Goodwin] didn't get one of his greatest starts but he is still one but we know is going to get a lot better.
