TEAM NOTES
- Texas leads the all-time series with Oklahoma State, 22-4, after today's game, including a 14-3 record in Austin.
- Head Coach Mack Brown now holds an 83-24 all-time record in Big 12 games. The 83 wins are tied for the most since 1998 for any Big 12 school. Texas has a 52-15 record in its last 67 Big 12 games.
- Texas is 39-8 (.830) at Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium/Jamail Field against Big 12 opponents. Overall UT is 70-12 (.854) under Mack Brown in home games.
- Brown lost his first-ever game following the Texas-OU Red River Rivalry game. He is now 13-1 the game following the Red River Rivalry.
- The Longhorns are now 127-128-8 all-time against ranked teams with an 0-2 record this season.
- UT forced a three-and-out on Oklahoma State's opening possession. It is the fourth time in six games the Texas defense has held its opponent to three plays or less on the opening drive. The Cowboys did not gain a single yard on three plays forcing a punt. Earlier this season the Longhorns held Iowa State to three plays for negative four yards, Rice to three plays for negative nine yards and intercepted a pass on the third play against UCLA.
- The Oklahoma State one-yard touchdown in the first quarter marked the first touchdown allowed in the opening period by the Longhorns this season. Texas did not allow a touchdown in any of the first five games and had outscored its opponents 33-15 in the opening period of play entering the game.
- Texas has now recovered three fumbles on special teams this season after Tevin Jackson recovered a fumble in the second quarter on a punt that hit an Oklahoma State player's leg. Jackson has recovered two fumbles on special teams this season as he also recovered a fumbled kickoff at Iowa State. Adrian Phillips recorded a fumble recovery on a punt versus Rice.
- The first five pass completions in the game for the Longhorns were all from David Ash to Mike Davis. Ash started the game 5-of-10 passing for 51 yards before a pass completion to D.J. Monroe.
- Fozzy Whittaker became just the second player in school history to return two career kickoffs for touchdowns joining D.J. Monroe. He is the first player to have a kickoff return for a score in back-to-back games. He tied his own school record for longest return of 100 yards, matching his total from last weeks' game and the length of Johnny "Lam" Jones' return vs. SMU in 1978.
- UT now has 79 non-offensive touchdowns since 1999, the second most in the nation during that span. The kickoff return by Whittaker was the third non-offensive touchdown this season for the Longhorns with two kickoff returns and one blocked punt going for a score. The kickoff return for a touchdown was the 16th in school history and ninth during the Mack Brown era.
- Texas rushed for 200 or more rushing yards in a game for the third time this season with 231 yards. They also had 229 yards against Rice and 284 yards at UCLA.
- The fourth quarter safety was the first safety recorded by Texas since 2009 when Sam Acho forced a fumble that was recovered in the end zone by Baylor for two points.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES
Carrington Byndom
- Byndom recorded a career-high four pass breakups in the game. His previous best was two at Iowa State. He now has nine career pass breakups, all coming this season.
David Ash
- True freshman made his first career start at quarterback. He had played in all five games to start the season. He is the first true freshman to start at quarterback since Chris Simms started at Texas A&M in the final game of the 1999 regular season.
Malcolm Brown
- True freshman Malcolm Brown scored two rushing touchdowns in the game to give him three in his career. His touchdowns came on runs of 15 and 24 yards.
- Brown tallied his second career 100-yard rushing game with a season-high 135 yards on 19 carries. He had 110 yards on 22 attempts earlier this year at UCLA. There have been 44 100-yard rushing games by Texas freshmen. The two 100-yard games tie for the sixth most by a freshman with Edwin Simmons and Johnny "Lam" Jones.
- With his 135 rushing yards he becomes the 13th Longhorn freshman to reach 500 rushing yards in a season and now has 516 rushing yards in six games.
- Brown had a career-long run of 27 yards in the first quarter. In the game he had two runs of 20 or more yards and has four 20-yard gains this year.
Josh Cochran - True freshman Josh Cochran earned his first career starting assignment at left tackle. He had four games played coming into the day.
Mike Davis
- Sophomore wide receiver Mike Davis caught a season-high 10 passes for 80 yards. It was his second career game with at least 10 receptions. He had a freshman record 11 catches against Kansas State last year.
Justin Tucker
- Tucker made a 34-yard field goal in the second quarter and is now 8-of-9 (.889) on field goal attempts this season and 31-of-36 (.861) for his career.
Fozzy Whittaker
- Whittaker made it back-to-back games with a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, tying the school record for career touchdown returns (D.J. Monroe). The 100-yard return matched the school record for the longest in Texas history.
- Whittaker has just eight career kickoff returns, scoring twice and averaging 46.5 yards per return.
- In the game Whittaker set a career high with 284 all-purpose yards, breaking his previous high of 158 last week against Oklahoma. The 284 all-purpose yards rank 10th most for a single game in school history.
- Whittaker set a school record for most kickoff return yards in a single game with 252, breaking the previous mark of 159 by Quan Cosby against Texas A&M in 2007. Whittaker had six returns, averaging 42.0 yards per attempt, also a school record for a single game.
