TEAM NOTES
- Texas honored 27 seniors prior to Saturday's game for Senior Day against Kansas State. The honorees included Emmanuel Acho, Anthony D'Addeo, Tray Allen, Jamison Berryhill, Nolan Brewster, Mark Buchanan, John Paul Floyd, Blake Gideon, Ahmard Howard, Blaine Irby, Cody Johnson, Luciano Martinez, Patrick McNamara, Tre' Newton, John Osborn, Luke Padgett*, Kheeston Randall, Christian Randolph, Keenan Robinson, Christian Scott, David Snow, Justin Tucker, Sam Walker, Fozzy Whittaker, Trey Wier*, Nick Zajicek and Alex Zumberge*.
- Texas and Kansas State met for the 12th time on Saturday with the series now standing at 7-5 in favor of Kansas State. The Longhorns are now 4-3 when playing the Wildcats in Austin.
- This was the Longhorns' third game of the season against a ranked team. Texas lost its previous two against No. 3/1 Oklahoma and No. 6/7 Oklahoma State. In the last 32 games against ranked foes the Longhorns are 21-11.
- Two running backs returned from injury for the Longhorns. Malcolm Brown started at running back after missing the previous two games while Joe Bergeron returned after sitting out against Missouri last weekend.
- The Texas defense once again was dominating, holding Kansas State to 121 total yards on 56 plays, an average of 2.2 yards per play. The Wildcats managed just 38 rushing yards on 39 carries, 171 yards below their average. The 83 passing yards were 72 below their season average and the 121 total yards were 23 below the season average. The 121 yards were a season low for Kansas State, whose previous low was 240 yards against Oklahoma, and 243 yards below the Wildcats season average (364.1 ypg). The Wildcats had also not had a game with fewer than 130 rushing yards this season.
- UT has held nine of its 10 opponents under their rushing average, eight of the 10 under the passing average and all 10 under the average for total yards this season. It is the fourth time an opponent has been held to over 100 yards below the rushing average with the others against UCLA (-111), Kansas (-190) and Texas Tech (-118.5).
- The defense recorded 16 tackles for loss in the game and now has four straight games with 10 or more tackles for loss.
- The Longhorns have not allowed a touchdown on the opening possession this season. The defense forced a three-and-out against the Wildcats, marking the fifth time in 10 games Texas has forced a three-and-out or better on the opening possession. Of the 10 games this year, the Longhorns have forced turnovers against UCLA (INT) and Missouri while also forcing five punts and allowing three field goals.
- Texas has only allowed one touchdown in the first quarter this season. The Longhorns held Kansas State to a field goal despite the Wildcats starting from the UT 16-yard line following an interception.
- UT only allowed 10 total yards in the first quarter, including 13 rushing yards on nine carries and negative three passing yards on four pass attempts.
- For the first half, the Texas defense only allowed 57 total yards on 30 plays, an average of 1.9 yards per play. The Wildcats managed just three rushing yards on 19 carries. Entering the game Kansas State averaged 208.5 rushing yards per game. Wildcats' quarterback Collin Klein had 13 carries for negative four yards in the first 30 minutes after entering the game ranked second in the Big 12 with 100.9 rushing yards per game.
- Texas' defense tallied four sacks and seven tackles for loss in the first half. In the previous three games, the Longhorns had 37 tackles for loss and nine sacks.
- The crowd of 100,705 was the 17th time in school history Texas drew a crowd of over 100,000 at home. It is the fifth time this season.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES
Emmanuel Acho
- On senior day, Emmanual Acho posted his eighth double-figure tackle game of the season and 10th of his career with 12 stops.
- He recorded his third sack of the season and seventh of his career. The three sacks match his single season best from last year.
- Overall he finished with 12 tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, one pressure and one pass breakup. He leads the team with 17 tackles for loss on the year.
Malcolm Brown
- Brown played for the first time since he had 119 yards and two touchdowns against Kansas, missing two games with a foot injury. He rushed for 33 yards on 11 carries.
- The 33 rushing yards give him 668 for the season which ranks eighth most by a freshman at Texas.
Blaine Irby
- Irby hauled in three receptions for 51 yards and a touchdown. His 36-yard touchdown catch was his third career touchdown and longest career reception. It was his first touchdown since the second game of the 2008 season against UTEP.
Jackson Jeffcoat
- Jeffcoat tallied five tackles for loss in the game to give him 17 on the season. He continued his recent tear and now has 13 TFL in the last four games with 4.5 sacks and 34 tackles over that span.
Cody Johnson
- Johnson had a season-high 61 rushing yards on just four carries with the big run coming with a 55-yard gain on third-and-one in the fourth quarter to keep the drive alive and lead to a Texas field goal.
- Johnson ended the game with 1,375 rushing yards for his career to pass Billy Quinn (1952-54 - 1,366) for 29th place on UT's all-time rushing list.
Case McCoy
- McCoy came off the bench to complete 3-of-3 passes for 49 yards and one touchdown on his first drive of the game in the third quarter. He led the scoring drive of six plays for 81 yards over 3:08 minutes.
- For the game McCoy was 8-of-16 for 80 yards and one touchdown. The touchdown pass was the fourth of the season for McCoy.
- He now has 80 career pass attempts without an interception. The streak ranks as the seventh longest in school history and is the second longest to open a career behind the 106 passes without a pick by Chance Mock from 2001-03.
Alex Okafor
- Okafor recorded a sack for the fifth straight game and now has one in six of the last seven contests. He leads the team with seven sacks for the season and now has 9.5 for his career.
Keenan Robinson
- Robinson notched his first sack of the season, a 10-yard loss on third down in the second quarter. The senior has 5.5 career sacks.
Justin Tucker
- Tucker made a 48-yard field goal in the second quarter to tie the game at 3-3 and added a 26-yard field goal to cut the lead to 17-13 in the fourth quarter. He is now 14-of-16 (.875) on the season and 37-of-43 (.860) for his career. He is a perfect 3-of-3 on kicks of 40-49 yards this year.
