Brackin helps lead USA to win at Duel in the Pool

ATLANTA, Ga. - Texas Women's Swimming head coach Kim Brackin helped guide USA Swimming to a 181.5-80.5 victory at the fifth Mutual of Omaha Duel in the Pool in Atlanta.
Brackin served as an assistant coach for the women's team which outscored the Europe All-Stars 81-50 to contribute to the overall victory for team USA. The United States finished first in 23 of the 31 events over the two-day span of competition.
Former Longhorn Kathleen Hersey helped Brackin and the women's side control the meet. Hersey set an American record in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:03.49 to earn five points for her team.
Five on the men's team have swum at Texas, including current senior Jimmy Feigen, Olympic gold medal winners Garrett Weber-Gale, Brendan Hansen and Ricky Berens as well as Michael Klueh. Feigen took sixth in the 100 freestyle and seventh in the 50 freestyle. Weber-Gale was second in the 100 freestyle, fourth in the 50 freestyle and was the second leg of team USA's winning 4-100 freestyle relay team. Hansen won the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:03.62, finished first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 57.47 and was the second leg of team USA's winning 4x100 medley relay team. Berens won the 100 freestyle with a time of 46.60, the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:42.68 and was on the 4x100 freestyle relay team that took first. Klueh won the 400 freestyle event with a time of 3:40.05 and was second in the 800 freestyle for eight total points.
Brackin and the Longhorns will swim next against Colgate in Puerto Rico on Jan. 3.
