LINCOLN, Neb. - Texas' distance medley relay broke the school record en route to a second place finish Friday night to highlight action on day one of the Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Championships in Lincoln, Neb. The Longhorns sit in fifth with 17 points heading into the final day of action.
The DMR group of junior Julie Amthor, junior Stacey-Ann Smith, freshman Marielle Hall and senior Betzy Jimenez clocked an 11:14.53, breaking the previous record of 11:19.53 set in 2008 by exactly five seconds.
Senior Chantel Malone, the defending Big 12 Indoor Long Jump Champion, just missed winning for the second-straight year with her mark of 20-10 (6.35m).
