No. 22 Women's Tennis blanks Missouri 7-0

AUSTIN, Texas -
No. 22 Texas (7-4, 2-0 Big 12) took a hard-fought doubles point and swept the singles session en route to a 7-0 win over Missouri Friday afternoon at UT's Penick-Allison Tennis Center.
The Horns claimed the doubles point after a lengthy battle with the Tigers. UT's Krista Damico and Aeriel Ellis opened with an 8-5 win over Rachel Stuhlmann and Maria Christensen at second doubles. The Tigers rallied with a win at first doubles, but Texas' Juliana Gajic and Maggie Mello nailed down the doubles point for the Horns with a 9-7 win over Mizzou's Marlen Hacke and Jamie Mera at third doubles.
UT freshman Elizabeth Begley staked the Horns to a 2-0 lead after posting a 6-3, 6-2 win over Stuhlmann at sixth singles. Gajic extended the Texas lead to 3-0 after dealing MU's Mera a 6-1, 6-4 defeat at fifth singles. The Horns clinched the match at second singles, as UT's Damico posted a 7-5, 6-2 win over Weber.
After dropping the first set to MU's Kaitlyn Ritchie at first singles, UT's 15th-ranked Ellis rallied for a 2-6, 6-1, 6-1 win to push the Texas lead to 5-0. UT's Amanda Craddock rallied for a three-set win over MU's Christensen at fourth singles, and Mello closed out the match with a three-set win over the Tigers' Hacke at third singles.
Texas resumes play on Sunday when it hosts Colorado at noon.
