Holiner advances to second round of Qualifying at ITA All-American Championships

TULSA, Okla. - Junior David Holiner advanced to the second round of the Qualifying draw of the ITA All-American Championships with a two-set victory on Monday at Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
The 99th-ranked Holiner defeated Matheus Pereira of Wichita State (6-2, 6-0) and will play Tulsa's Alejandro Sanchez on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. CT. Holiner is the first Longhorn to win a match at the All-American Championships this season.
Also in action on Monday, No. 109 junior Sudanwa Sitaram was narrowly defeated by Thorsten Bertsch of San Diego State in two sets by scores of 7-5 and 6-4. Senior Chris Camillone played in one of the last matches to complete on Monday evening, falling in two sets to John Morrissey of Stanford (6-3, 6-1).
The Qualifying singles draw of the Championships continues tomorrow with the second and third rounds and the first and second rounds of Qualifying doubles competition. The 38th-ranked team of Ben Chen and Daniel Whitehead will represent the Longhorns in Qualifying doubles action.
