Men’s Tennis’ Eriksson advances to ITA Texas Regionals semifinals

Sophomore Sebastian Eriksson moved on in the singles draw with a win on Monday in College Station.
College Station, Texas – Texas Men's Tennis sophomore 4 seed No. 54 Sebastian Eriksson advanced to the singles semifinals at the ITA Texas Regional Championships in College Station on Monday.
Eriksson defeated the 12 seed Togan Tokac of Texas A&M, 6-1, 6-3, to move on to the semifinals where he will next face 1 seed #34 Alexander Frusina of the Aggies on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. CT.
Monday's play also saw the doubles pair of senior Jonah Braswell and sophomore Evan Burnett reach the semifinals of the tournament with an 8-6 win over 15 seed Ritesh Patil and Khololwam Montsi of Texas A&M. However, the duo then fell in their second match of the day to the 2 seed #28 Zsombor Velcz and Connor Van Schalkwyk of Baylor, 7-6 (1), 6-4.
The Longhorns had a second doubles pair in the quarterfinals on Monday in Eriksson and senior Sebastian Gorzny, but they dropped their match to 13 seed Niksa Arsic and Thiago Guglieri of Texas Tech, 8-4.
Additionally, freshman Mariano Dedura-Palomero had advanced to the consolation draw quarterfinals against Ethan Silva of Texas A&M, but fell in a superbreaker, 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (6).
