TEAM NOTES
- The Series: Texas has won 13 of the past 15 meetings and 17 of the last 20 matchups against Baylor. The Longhorns have produced at least 400 yards of total offense 19 times in the last 20 meetings, including 557 in last season's loss. The only year UT did not manage 400 total yards was 1995.
- Mack Brown moves up NCAA career wins list: Texas' win marked Mack Brown's 232th career victory as a head coach, moving him into a three-way tie for 12th in the NCAA with Hayden Fry and Chris Ault.
- Big Crowd: Tonight's attendance was 101,353, which is the fifth-largest crowd in Darrell K Royal - Texas Memorial Stadium history. Four of the top 14 crowds in stadium history have occurred in 2012. West Virginia (101,851) was first, Wyoming (101,142) ranks 10th and New Mexico (100,900) is 14th.
- Total Offensive Output: With 525 total yards of offense on Saturday, Mack Brown has coached Texas to over 500 yards of total offense in 52 games. The Horns also scored over 50 points in a game for the second time this season (66 vs. Ole Miss) - it is the first season with 50 or more points scored in two games since 2009 (Kansas, UTEP).
- Points off Turnovers: Texas entered the game ranked tied for 26th in the FBS in turnover margin (+0.83 per game). The Horns have forced 13 turnovers and committed just six (tied for the 15th-fewest in the FBS). They have turned those miscues into points, outscoring the opposition 77-10 this season off turnovers. Josh Turner's second-quarter interception set up Texas's fifth touchdown of the game and a third-quarter Baylor fumble set up a fourth-quarter score by Mike Davis.
- First-drive Defense: For the first time during conference play, Texas held its opponent scoreless on the first drive of the game. The Horns held Baylor to three plays lasting 58 seconds with a net loss of one yard. It is the first 3-and-out on an opening drive for the Texas defense this season.
- Rushing Attack: The Longhorns scored seven rushing touchdowns, including five from Joe Bergeron, on 251 rushing yards, their third time over 250 on the ground this season.
- Freshman on the Field: Shiro Davis became the 16th true freshman to play for the Longhorns this season. Last season, an FBS-high 18 Texas true freshmen saw action. This year, 15 true freshmen played entering tonight's contest, a number which was tied for first in the FBS with LSU, TCU and Ohio State. LS Kyle Ashby, DL Malcom Brown, FB Alex De La Torre, OL Kennedy Estelle, RB Johnathan Gray, WR Daje Johnson, WR Marcus Johnson, WR Cayleb Jones, PK Nick Jordan, LB Peter Jinkens, PK Nick Rose, WR Kendall Sanders, LB Dalton Santos, CB Duke Thomas and DB Kevin Vaccaro are the true freshmen who played entering the Baylor game.
- Offensive Third-down Efficiency: The Longhorns entered the game sixth in the FBS in offensive third-down efficiency, converting 54.0 percent (47 of 87) of their attempts. UT converted on 10 of 16 third downs on Saturday (63 percent).
- Big 12 Success at Home: Texas is 42-10 (.807) at Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium against league opponents during the Mack Brown era. The 42 home victories are the second-most by any team in the conference over the last 14 years.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES
Joe Bergeron, RB
- Set a new career high with five rushing touchdowns (four vs. West Virginia earlier this season) and now has 14 on the season. He entered the game second in the Big 12 and tied for 12th in the FBS in rushing touchdowns (9).
- All of his 19 career rushing touchdowns have occurred in his last 11 games. He is the fourth player in school history to post four or more rushing touchdowns in multiple games (also Ricky Williams, 5; Cedric Benson, 2; Vince Young, 2) and third to post five or more in one game. Williams had a school-record six twice during the 1998 season (vs. Rice and New Mexico State). Benson ran for five touchdowns vs. Oklahoma State in 2004.
- Posted his fourth-career 100-yard rushing game averaging 6.2 yards per carry (117 yards on 19 attempts).
Mike Davis, WR
- Posted six receptions for a career-high 148 receiving yards, including a career-long 67-yard catch in the third quarter which set up a TD.
Daje Johnson, RB
- Scored on an 84-yard run on the opening play of the game. It was the eighth-longest rush in school history and longest since Jamaal Charles went 86 yards for a touchdown vs. Nebraska (2007). Johnson's rush was also the second longest by a freshman in school history. Raymond Clayborn had an 85-yard TD run vs. Arkansas in 1973.
D.J. Monroe, WR
- Had a 70-yard kickoff return to set up the fourth touchdown of the game.
M.J. McFarland, TE
- Made his second-career start.
- Posted a career-long 29-yard reception. Has five of his six career receptions in the last three games.
Alex Okafor, DE
- Posted eight tackles including three for a loss. It marked his ninth-career game with two or more tackles for loss.
- Okafor's 1.5 sacks on Saturday increased his season total to 7.5 to eclipse his 7.0 sack recorded last season.
Luke Poehlmann, OT
- Made his first-career start at offensive tackle. He had started two other games as a blocking tight end. He played right tackle tonight due to the injury to left tackle Donald Hawkins. Josh Cochran moved from right to left tackle.
Josh Turner, S
- Made his first-career start at safety and picked off the first pass of his career in the second quarter which set up a Longhorn touchdown.
